Aldro School
Suivez Raison
Founded in 1898 and set in the Surrey countryside near Godalming, Aldro became co-educational in 2021 after more than a century as a boys' school. It places academic excellence at the heart of a broad and holistic education, one that gives every child the freedom to flourish in the classroom, the arts, and on the games field alike. With around two hundred children and small classes taught by subject specialists, it is a school where each child is known as an individual and prepared with care for the years ahead.

Academic Profile
Aldro follows the ISEB curriculum through to Year 8, taught by subject specialists with setting from Year 5, alongside its own Aldro Bacc curriculum in the humanities. Scholarships are regularly awarded across academic, art, music, drama, sport, and design disciplines, to senior schools including Harrow, Tonbridge, Wellington, and Winchester.
Co-Curricular Life
Sport, music, art, and drama all have a genuine presence in school life, alongside distinctive strengths including chess, in which Aldro has enjoyed national tournament success. The school's rural Surrey setting, with its own lake and extensive grounds, supports an outdoor, activity-filled approach to the week, with fixtures and trips built into a six-day timetable.
Admissions Essentials
The majority of children join Aldro at age seven, in Form 3, with places in later year groups considered where available. Registration is recommended by September of the year before entry. The first step is an Open Morning or personal visit, followed by a Taster Day and an entrance assessment in English and Mathematics. In Year 8, pupils sit Common Entrance or scholarship examinations for their chosen senior school, with scholarships available across academic, art, music, drama, sport, and design technology.
In Essence
For a child ready to throw themselves into everything a school can offer, Aldro brings academic strength together with the arts, sport, and outdoor life, so that talent in one area builds confidence in the next, and each child is prepared with care for the senior school that is right for them.
